The Gundog Studio Project is a personal photography initiative focused on capturing the character, expression, and heritage of gundogs in a studio environment inspired by countryside traditions.  Photographed indoors with carefully chosen elements such as straw, hay bales, and vintage rural artefacts, this project celebrates the unique personality and working heritage of gundog breeds in a way that feels familiar, grounded, and timeless.  Sessions are offered free of charge as part of the project. There is no obligation to purchase anything at all. Once selected, participants will be invited to view their images privately after the shoot, and prints or high-resolution digitals will be available at your discretion.  This project is particularly suited to spaniels, retrievers, and other breeds with gundog heritage — whether they are actively worked, retired, or simply carry that tradition.

2. Why I Shoot This Way

My approach is about honoring the heritage and presence of gundogs in a setting that feels authentic. By working in a controlled studio space enriched with countryside textures and props, I can blend the best of both worlds — the story and feel of the field with consistent lighting, composition, and imagery that stands the test of time.  This allows me to create portraits that are both expressive and refined, rooted in tradition but crafted with intention.

3. How to Apply

Places in The Gundog Studio Project are limited, as the aim is to build a cohesive body of work rather than a high-volume shoot.  To apply, please complete the application form below. I’ll review each submission personally and get in touch if your dog is a good fit for the project.
